Transport Supervisor

Logistics done differently.

We’re hiring a Transport Supervisor to work onsite at Taunton. The Transport Supervisor will be responsible for managing the sites compliance effectively to achieve targeted performance levels, supporting the Transport Manager and delivering short, medium and long term objectives.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £35,000 per annum. We offer 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days. You’ll have access to a variety of high street discounts, cycle to work scheme, a workplace pension and many other perks.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

• Coordinate subcontractors and core outbound fleet loading/deliveries using various communication tools, ensuring all jobs run on time and that any issues are communicated and recorded within the appropriate timescales.
• Debrief drivers, ensuring all debrief procedures are completed and recorded where required.
• Ensure all drivers are using the XPO internal tracking application, providing support with setup, troubleshooting, and new driver account creation.
• Operate transport management systems confidently across all aspects of transport operations, including problem-solving and issue resolution

• Ensure Health & Safety rules are followed by all personnel attending customer sites. Report near misses and incidents and provide support where required.
• Ensure weekly inspections and safety monitoring activities are completed.
• Ensure all incidents and accidents are reported, fully investigated, and all documentation uploaded to the relevant systems.
• Manage PPE and uniform requirements.

• Provide support to team members and contribute to a positive and professional working environment.
• Support the Transport Manager with financial tasks, including contributing to P&L reviews where required.
• Assist with any additional duties delegated by the Transport Manager to support business operations.
• Demonstrate flexibility and a proactive approach to ensuring customer service and operational excellence are always maintained.

What you need to succeed at XPO:

• It’s important you have exposure of working in a fast-paced environment – no two days will be the same and we need you to think on your feet
• Previous experience supervising and developing a team within a complex transport environment
• Proven experience within transport and a good understanding of compliance and driver hours
• Computer literate as will be answering email, dispatching drivers, and compiling handovers.
• Team building experience.
• Experience in a fast-paced, time critical environment.
• Some transport experience dealing with C+E drivers would be beneficial.
