We’re hiring a Transport Manager to work onsite at Thurrock. The Transport Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of petroleum fuel distribution operations within their region. This includes ensuring compliance with all legal and safety regulations, optimizing productivity, and engaging and managing driver performance. A critical focus will be on ensuring all equipment, vehicles, and drivers are fully trained and registered for the appropriate terminals and fuel delivery points. This role demands an unwavering commitment to safety, operational efficiency, and driver engagement.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £45,000 per annum. We offer 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days. You’ll have access to a variety of high street discounts, cycle to work scheme, a workplace pension and many other perks.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

• Manage daily distribution operations, in conjunction with the Thurrock Control Tower operators ensuring timely and efficient fuel deliveries across the region.
• Implement and oversee operational policies to optimise productivity, reduce costs, and enhance service quality.
• Ensure that all vehicles and equipment are registered at the correct terminals and that drivers are appropriately trained for all relevant locations and delivery points.
• Monitor and report on regional key performance indicators (KPIs) related to, fuel consumption, vehicle utilisation, and other operational metrics.
• Ensure all regional operations comply with Company policy, current legislation, including health and safety, environmental standards, and the handling of hazardous materials.
• Regularly conduct audits on Evotix to identify areas for improvement in safety practices.
• Ensure all aspect of the sites within region are achieving the highest standards relating to operators’ compliance risk score with standards set to achieve FORS recognition in future.
• Utilise the Microlise system to its full potential driving a sustained improving score via driver engagement & 1:1 management, fostering a culture of consistently high performance.
• Foster a supportive, inclusive, and communicative work environment, encouraging driver input and ensuring concerns are addressed.
• Ensure all drivers are trained and competent in operating vehicles and equipment across various terminals, fuel types, and delivery locations.

What you need to succeed at XPO:

• Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience). CPC International preferred

• 5+ years of experience in transport management, logistics, or fleet operations, preferably within the fuel or hazardous materials distribution industry.
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing, training, and motivating drivers and other logistics staff.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in transportation management systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
